Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed Twin Creeks (named after the two creeks that run through the layout) to integrate with five strategically placed lakes that come into play. For the most part, the fairways here are generous, rolling peacefully toward large, undulating greens seeded with Crenshaw Creeping Bentgrass.
Hole 11 is one of the best, a long, 383-yard par 4 with trees lining the fairway and a difficult green guarded by several giant pecan trees. No. 17, a 409-yarder with water on the right, requires a monster drive to carry the full body of water. The best play is to aim left even though the approach will be a bit longer.
Other notes: Golf Digest has rated Twin Creeks as high as 10th for the “Best Public Course” in the state. For now Twin Creeks is public, but the long-term plan is for the facility to become private after it’s purchased by the homeowner’s association.
Getting there : Take I-75 north from Dallas, then exit McDermott (Exit 34). Turn left, drive 1.5 miles, and you should be able to see the signs leading to the course.
