Iron Horse is laid out in the floodplain of Fossil Creek, an area loaded with woods and a railroad that divides the property into three tracts. When Dick Phelps designed the course he loaded it with par 4s that are over 400 yards. This track has only two par 5s, but you’ll get your money’s worth as they are virtually impossible to reach in two. The best hole is the 462-yard, par 4 No. 3, which is generally a bogey hole for the average golfer.

Getting there : Take I-35 W (US 287) north for 5 miles and merge on I-820 East (NE Loop 820) and go 2.4 miles. Take Exit 20 B and turn right (south) on Ruff Snow Drive. Go one block and take a right on Meadow Lakes Dr. Continue on Meadow Lakes Dr. and follow the signs to the clubhouse.
