Lost Creek Country Club is one of Austin's lesser known private golf courses
AUSTIN, Texas -- Located just west of downtown Austin off Highway 360, Lost Creek Country Club is one of those private clubs in town that flies well below the radar compared to its neighbors Barton Creek Country Club & Resort and Austin Country Club.
Lost Creek, operated by ClubCorp, opened in the early 1970s and plays along the banks of Barton Creek. It's a very pleasant and walkable routing that is only 6,600 yards from the tips, but there are some pretty tough holes and forced carries both off the tee and near the greens.
The back nine has a neat out-and-back routing that winds along the creek, and demands more precision and shot-shaping than power. Unlike Barton Creek and Austin Country Club, there is really no residential presence on the course here, and the result is a very quiet and scenic loop with nothing but the babbling creek running along holes and plenty of wildlife.
